Southwind Homes, known as a premier builder, has been constructing homes for the past 28 years in neighbourhoods in the Comox Valley, Parksville and Qualicum, BC. They have built many homes in the Comox Valley, from larger custom homes, to pre-planned homes designed perfectly for their lot size and location.
The Vision
Southwind Homes has had the vision to design Southwind Place as a neighbourhood unlike any that has been designed in this area before. Each lot has been specifically selected for the type of the home that suits it, such as a rancher (with or without a bonus room), a one and one half storey, a two-storey walk-up and a two storey that also comes with or without a bonus room.
In addition, the style of each home has also been pre-selected. Southwind Homes has gone this extra step of pre-designing the neighbourhood, so that each home will compliment each other. As a new resident of Southwind Place, you will know exactly what your new home will look like, what your neighbours' home will look like, and how lovely your street will look, before you make the final decision on your lot and home selection.
Rick Bernes - A Knowledgeable Builder
Rick Bernes is the president of Southwind Development Corporation. For the past 28 years, he has been building new homes in the Parksville and Qualicum areas as well as in the Comox Valley. He is very experienced in the building industry, and he is completely knowledgeable of the requirements of the Building Code on a municipal, provincial, and federal level.

A Team Effort
Another benefit of choosing a Southwind Home is knowing that there is a whole team building your home. Rick is proud to work with his two sons in a family operation. His son, Colby Bernes, is a Journeyman Carpenter with over 12 years of experience building new homes, and he heads up the construction team. His other son, Craig Bernes, supervises the landscaping, works on the foundation as well as the roof and he completes the finishing touches in each new home. Rick's wife Diane uses her many years of design experience to add decorating highlights and special features to enhance the value of every Southwind Home.
Customer Service
Sherry Pilkington is the customer service representative and she plays an important roll in the building process from the beginning to the end. She is responsible to work with each customer in the selection and options process as well as to walk each new homeowner through the completed Southwind Home to ensure that every detail has been attended to as the Ten Year New Home Warranty comes into effect.
Quality Delivered
Most of the trades people working on each Southwind Home are employees of Southwind Development Corporation. Foundation and framing crews as well as plumbers, electricians, drywallers and others contribute to the quality of a Southwind Home to turn out the best product possible.
